Stones

The symbolism of stones centers on endurance, permanence and stability. Stones represent the ability to be grounded and connected with our world and more simply our community. Stones are strong, versatile, and easily accessible. Building a stable foundation includes some type of formal education, stable housing, and gainful employment. Lacking in any area could have drastic consequences, consequences we seek to avoid.

Staying grounded is critical for remaining on the track towards living a free and fruitful life.
"I alone cannot change the world
but I can cast a Stone
across the waters
to create many rRipples"

-Mother Teresa

Housing

Our Voucher program offers housing assistance that caters to those seeking a stable living situation or while readjusting to society.  Stable housing is a fundamental determinant of mental health and family stability. When individuals and families have access to secure and stable housing, several positive outcomes can occur:

1. Mental Health:
  • Reduced Stress: Stable housing reduces the stress associated with the uncertainty of where one will sleep each night. This reduction in stress can have a positive impact on mental well-being.
  • Sense of Security: Knowing one has a safe and stable place to live provides a sense of security, which is crucial for mental health and emotional well-being.
  • Access to Supportive Networks: Stable housing often means residing within a community, allowing individuals and families to build supportive social networks, which can contribute to mental health resilience.
2. Family Stability:
  • Children's Development: Stable housing is particularly crucial for children. It provides a consistent environment that supports healthy development, including regular school attendance and access to extracurricular activities.
  • Parental Well-being: Parents who have stable housing are better equipped to meet their children's needs, leading to a more stable family environment.
  • Reduced Family Disruption: Families without stable housing are more likely to experience disruptions such as frequent moves or homelessness, which can negatively impact family cohesion and stability.
Impact of Unstable Housing:
  • Mental Health Issues: Unstable housing, including homelessness or frequent moves, can lead to or exacerbate mental health issues, including depression, anxiety, and trauma.
  • Child Developmental Problems: Children without stable housing are at higher risk for developmental problems, educational challenges, and emotional disturbances.
  • Family Stress: Constantly changing living situations can lead to chronic stress within families, straining relationships and making it difficult for family members to focus on personal and educational goals.
